Hang fire
Photographs are in circulation of Boris Johnson behaving like Milton's "Comus "the Lord of Misrule at one of the parties. The images are from an event which the Met decided, I think wisely, not to consider.
The Met's reputation is controversial to say the least. Sergeant Hakewell from Sean Bean's ' 90s Peninsular War TV series seems to be alive and well among a few of its sergeants. Cressida Dick may well have offered " cognitive diversity" during her strange tenure of the Commissionership, but she made the correct call not to affect the standing of the Prime Minister. The Met is not a Praetorian Guard, certainly in its present state. She got in first and protected the Force.
I will comment when I have read Sue Gray's report with care and an open mind. I wish to be fair towards all persons caught up in this imbroglio. The UK is involved in a major war if not at War officially. I am interested to see what can be salvaged or learned from this business.
